Our Float Rooms
Our float rooms are large (also called sensory deprivation tanks or isolation tanks). The most common thing we hear is, "Wow! The float rooms are a lot bigger than I thought they would be!"
It's hard to visualize what an 8 foot long, 8 foot wide, 4.5 foot wide room looks like. Here are some pictures that might help. People have described it as a huge walk-in closet size!
If you would like to float, but you're not sure about being in a small space, please give it a second look. We have two large rooms, not pods or tanks.
The light can stay on if needed. No one is locked in or forced to float for the full 60 minutes. There is a lock on the changing room/float room as a whole, for privacy.
The step up into the float room is about 2 feet high, so please take this into consideration. You are welcome to bring a helper with. We also have a stool for additional help. There is a grab bar on the inside of the float room and the float room door.
Float Quad Cities uses the strongest sanitation system currently available for float tanks. The reverse osmosis water/epsom salt solution is filtered after every client through an NSF certified 1 micron bag filter, and sanitized with UV light and ozone. The float rooms are topped off with fresh water and epsom salt on a weekly basis as needed.
We also keep a hydrogen peroxide residual in the water as an additional oxidizer/sanitizer. On top of that, the high salt content makes the float tank solution naturally inhospitable to pathogens.
"When germicidal UV light (UV-C) and ozone react the result is the production of hydroxyl radicals. This reaction is known as the Advanced Oxidation Process, or AOP. Hydroxyl radicals (•OH) are the most powerful oxidation agents available, quickly destroying bacteria, viruses, pathogens and other contaminants that occur in water. Hydroxyl radicals also destroy chlorine and bromine resistant microorganisms, such as Cryptosporidium Parvum, Giardia and E.Coli. UV + O3 + H2O2 = Peroxone AOP"
All of the high touch surfaces like handles, shower floor, etc are sanitized with hydrogen peroxide in between every person. There are two HEPA air filters that run 24/7 and shower vents that run when motion is detected. There are two private float rooms, and you shower before and after your float.
No pods here!
Even though we call them float tanks, they're not actually tanks. We have float cabins, which are really large rooms. 8ft tall, 8ft long, 4.5 ft wide!
PS. The door doesn't lock and you can leave it open if you want!
